Abstract

Abstract:

Background:

Based on field surveys, the Bundo Kanduang Women’s Group of Sungayang has made efforts to manage maternal and child health issues; however, these efforts have not been optimal. From January to June 2023, three cases of high-risk pregnancies were identified, including one case of pregnancy at a young age, one case of pregnancy with anemia, and one case of pregnancy with hypertension. Therefore, early identification is necessary to prevent pregnancy-related risks. The problems identified were: 1.the Bundo Kanduang Women’s Group of Sungayang lacks knowledge regarding screening methods for pregnant women and the identification of high-risk pregnancies;2limited knowledge on how to coordinate and collaborate with Sungayang Primary Health Center (Puskesmas) and related stakeholders to ensure continuity of care for high-risk pregnant women;the absence of a blood donor group in Sungayang District; and suboptimal implementation of mentoring and assistance in addressing maternal health problems and high-risk pregnancies.

   Method:

The implementation method consisted of training and mentoring the Bundo Kanduang Women’s Group of Sungayang on how to conduct screening for pregnant women and identify high-risk pregnancies. The objective of this intervention was to enable the partner group to independently perform pregnancy screening and identify high-risk pregnant women.

Result:

This community service activity was conducted from November 1 to November 12, 2024. The target participants were members of the Bundo Kanduang Women’s Group, including community members and health cadres. The implementation team coordinated with partners to discuss the schedule of the community service activities in accordance with the proposed solutions to address the identified problems.
